Design, Bild and Field Trial of MECS SLDE

Problem:

Over the last 5 years industrial electricity prices have increased at a staggering rate alongside an ever-increasing drive to reduce carbon emissions.

Solution:

C2 Technology proposed the installation of a MECS as a SLDE to extract power from the pressure reduction process. A proportion of the steam will be expanded through the MECS generating low cost, grid compliant, electricity.

C2 Technology carried out the detailed design and is currently manufacturing the field trial unit of a single stage 20kW MECS SLDE system.

Results/Benefits:

The installation of the 20kW MECS SLDE is planned for Q1 of 2023 and is predicted to achieve a net generation of 88MWh of low cost electricity per year with a payback period of less than 3.5 years and a CO2 emission reduction of 14tons.
